Here are some guidelines for staying safe and healthy at Frizzhome Gardens as we deal with the coronavirus pandemic. We will be monitoring the situation and everything is subject to change. I will update Facebook, Instagram and our website whenever a change is made.
1. We will be extending our business hours to 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM seven days a week. The extended hours will hopefully encourage people to come earlier or later in the day to avoid bigger groups.
2. Please do not shop if you exhibit flu-like symptoms or symptoms matching COVID-19.
3. Please exercise social distancing and leave at least six feet in between you and your fellow shoppers and employees.
4. We have pens available but we strongly encourage you to bring your own pen.
5. We will monitor the number of people inside of greenhouses and will limit the number of people allowed inside a greenhouse if necessary.
6. We ask that everyone wipes down their carts before each use with the sanitizer provided.
7. We will be sanitizing countertops and surfaces on a regular basis.
8. We will be offering curbside pickup to those who want it. We will be putting those orders on a table with the name matching the order. Curbside pickup requires payment by credit card over the phone and has a five dollar minimum. Thank you for understanding. The number to reach us is 6036440734.
If you have any questions regarding this or anything else, please reach out on here. Take care!
I hope this post finds everyone healthy and well despite the challenges life is throwing our way. Howard, Jody and I (Jeff) wanted to let you all know that Frizzhome Gardens is an essential business and will be here for you in 2020. We have decided to push our official opening back to Saturday, April 11th, but we will be open every day of the week starting then from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM except Sundays when we will be open 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. If people want to show up earlier than 9:00 AM in order to avoid any potential crowds, we encourage you to do so. Howard is always down at the greenhouses by 7:30 at the latest. If you would like to come before we officially open for the season, feel free! Please just bring cash or a check as our credit card machine will not be up an running until we officially open. Some customers have started trickling in and it makes us incredibly happy to see everyone again. See you soon!

Fall weather is finally upon us here in New Hampshire, and that is reason enough for celebration! Looking for more reasons? Look no further than Frizzhome Gardens! Vegetables, annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees have been flying off our benches, but we still boast a great selection. I could go on all day about our favorites, but I will refrain and post about just a few plants that particularly strike my fancy and may strike yours as well.
For the first time ever, Frizzhome Gardens is offering tree roses! Pictured is a Julia Child tree rose which has a wonderful fragrance to go along with the beauty. Tree roses are ideal for adding height to a border and can be planted closely together for an even more impressive display. They also can work very well on porches, decks, and patios, serving as a natural candle while being aesthetically pleasing.
Foxglove make a great addition to any perennial garden due to their height and beautiful flowers. Foxglove also bring the hummingbirds and bees into the garden while being of no interest to deer.
African Blue Basil is excellent due to the fact that not only is it great for cooking and as a garnish, but it is very pretty in the garden. To accompany the pretty leaves, the African Blue Basil sends up purple flowers which make for great bouquets and attract both bumblebees and butterflies.
Popcorn plants, such as the one pictured, can grow to eight feet tall and send up long spikes that are littered with showy yellow flowers. The feathery foliage along with the bright flowers make it a great contrast to other plants in a container or garden. Perhaps my favorite quality of this remarkable plant is that it truly smells like buttered popcorn. This make it a great conversation piece and will surely delight kids!
Thank you all for continuing to support our business, and making this a record year for Frizzhome Gardens. We love to see our customers returning year after year, and to meet new visitors to the greenhouses.
We hope to see you all again soon,

Frizzhome Gardens is so proud to be open for a 34th season! We have been working hard all winter in order to provide you with an amazing selection of plants! We hope to see you all soon!

We had such a fun day at Frizzhome Gardens today. We spent the day making hundreds of combinations for hanging pots out of petunias, calibrachoas, scaevola, bacopa, nemesia, petchoa, lobularia and more! I will save you some time and only put a couple of the pictures I took today, haha.

Step one for planting the geraniums was to fill all the pots and hanging baskets that were required. This part of the process was the longest, taking us four days to complete, if you count the day to heat the greenhouse in order to thaw out the soil that was needed. The next two days were comprised exclusively of planting the unrooted geranium cuttings. We watered the geraniums in normally and will be misting them for the next couple weeks until they are rooted in well. Below you will see pictures showing the process and ending with the result of nine-thousand geraniums that we planted this past week.
The workshop will be held at Frizzhome Gardens on February 10th and will go from approximately 2:00-3:30 PM. The cost for the workshop is twenty-eight dollars plus cost of the plants. Payment will be accepted at the workshop, cash or check only please.
Aaron Kinne graduated from UNH Manchester in 2013, joining the Master Gardener Program soon after. From 2013 onward, they have been doing regular plant talks at schools, churches, and gardening clubs on a variety of topics. As a botanist, they focus mainly on genera from tropical and arid climates, and have an extensive collection of species from all over the world. They currently live in Manchester, NH, where they manage a specialty gardening store on the West Side.
-Aaron will discuss basic botany, mixed with a hands-on exercise
on how to best display your plants while keeping them in a healthy environment.
-Aaron will cover using different plant morphologies to one’s benefit, taking into account the kinds of root systems, types of life cycles, mature size, growth habit and more.
-Aaron will discuss the misconceptions surrounding certain types of plants including bonsai, succulents and cacti.
-You will learn how to create a planter for the home environment, taking dryness and lighting into consideration.
-Aesthetics and learning to think ahead on which plants will work well together as they mature will also be discussed.
Containers will consist of shallow pots or saucers (2-3″ deep) and wood pieces that your garden can be mounted to. These will be true pieces of art. You are welcome to bring any shallow pot, rock or unique pieces of driftwood that you would like to be incorporated.
