If you are looking for someting a bit different this is one plant not to be missed. These beautiful temperennials (plants that would be perennial in a warmer climate than our cold Northeast Zone 5) flower continuously in light conditions from full sun to a half day of shade. Give a weekly liquid feeding or a slow release fertilizer following the manufacturer’s instructions, water as you would your regular annuals and they will reward you with beautiful flowers all season long.
They even come with variegated foliage like the beautiful Variegated Salmon (Abutilon pictum Thomsonii). These plants can be trained to a standard (tree) shape given time and pruning. We’ll have abutilon standards and assorted sizes of these great plants available in the spring. With a little care they can be brought indoors and wintered over in a sunny window.
